3P PERFORMANCE PLASTICS PRODUCTS

3P Performance Plastics Products designs, develops and manufactures high performance plastics and composites products (PTFE, PFA, PEEK, etc, virgin or filled). I-Spray is pleased to partner with 3P in providing these XYTREX® products to companies in the Petrochemical, and Oil & Gas industries.

IMPROVING PUMP PERFORMANCE AND EFFICIENCY

XYTREX® products have been developed to offer better efficiency and reliability to pump systems and other fluid handling equipment. They are made of high performance polymers reinforced with specific fillers for applications subject to shock and vibration.

One of their main benefits is the possibility for a rotating equipment to withstand a longer run-dry or off-design conditions, where metal components are prone to galling. Because they become sacrificial parts, XYTREX® components allow the equipment to be repaired in a fraction of time and at a fraction of the cost. Faster and less expensive repairs directly result in lower Total Cost of Ownership. Its superior  reliability increases MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures).

Especially in pump systems, XYTREX® components can work properly with reduced clearances compared to the API 610 standard recommendation for metal parts. Reduced clearances create a higher pressure liquid film across the surface of the wear components that yields a hydrostatic bearing effect which stabilizes the rotor and reduces system vibration. Internal recirculation is also reduced, which, in turn, translates into energy savings and has an impact on environmental pollution.

The company 3P – Performance Plastics Products develops critical solutions in high performance plastics and composites, benefiting from over 55 years of experience in materials and processes.

3P- Performance Plastics Products foresees composite materials becoming the material of choice in pump components, and has developed XYTREX® composites since 30 years ago. More and more pumps in refining and petrochemical plants are switching from metallic parts to XYTREX® materials. These polymer materials are listed in the API 610 11th edition. Each material can work for specific applications, operating as static and/ or dynamic components.

XYTREX®  range For wear components

XYTREX® products are PTFE, PEEK and PFA-based composites. Each material has its own characteristics and is intended for a given application depending on thermal, mechanical, tribological and chemical requirements in operation.

XYTREX® 115

X115 is a PTFE-based material with proprietary fillers. It has the highest ductility of all XYTREX® grades, allowing pump overall vibration reduction at commissioning. This material is recommended for stationary wear components. It can be used for low radial load applications from -50°C up to +50°C. It is an ideal material to substitute rubber bearings in vertical pumps with low pressure.

XYTREX® 116

X116 is a PEEK-based material with proprietary fillers. This material is recommended for stationary wear components from -50 to +120°C. It can be used for low to moderate radial load capability. It offers pump overall vibration reduction at commissioning.

XYTREX® 120

X120 is a PTFE-based material reinforced with carbon fiber and graphite. It is ASTM D4745 Grade 8 compliant. This material is recommended for stationary wear components from -50 to +50°C. The addition of carbon fiber enhances the mechanical performance and wear resistance of PTFE, and lowers its expansion rate. Graphite significantly improves the coefficient of friction and allows run dry or touch off. XYTREX®120 is ideal for wear components with demanding requirement in vibration absorption to improve lifetime and operation.

XYTREX® 451

X451 is a PEEK-based material reinforced with chopped carbon fiber. This material is recommended for stationary wear components. It can be used for moderate to high radial load applications from -50°C up to +150°C. It benefits from WRAS approval, allowing use in contact of drinking water. It is an ideal material to substitute metallic materials for throat bushings, line shaft bearings and case wear rings. This material is listed in API 610, 11th edition.

XYTREX® 459

X459 is a PEEK-based material reinforced with chopped carbon fiber and with a solid lubricant. This material is the lubricated version with improved coefficient of friction of XYTREX® 451. It is formulated for extended dry running applications.

XC®2

XC®2 is a PEEK-based composite reinforced with continuous and aligned carbon fiber. This material is recommended for stationary and dynamic wear components. Its unrivalled strength and radial load capability (high pressure/velocities) combined with excellent tribological properties make it an ideal choice for the most demanding applications. It can be used from -50°C up to +315°C. XC®2 is suitable to substitute metallic materials for impeller rings, balance pistons, interstage and protection sleeves. This material is listed in API 610, 11th edition.

XC®2-L

XC®2-L is a PEEK-based material reinforced with continuous and aligned carbon fiber and with a solid lubricant. This material is the lubricated version with improved coefficient of friction of XC®2. It is formulated for extended dry running applications.

XYTREX® 751

X751 is a PFA-based material reinforced with chopped carbon fiber. It brings to the table the largest chemical resistance, including the chemicals PEEK can’t withstand (sulfuric acids, nitric acid, bromine, chlorine, fluorine, sodium). This material is recommended for stationary wear components. It can be used for low to moderate radial load applications from -50°C up to +150°C. It is an ideal material to substitute metallic materials for stuffing box bushings, diffuser rings, and throttle bushings.
